Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.

Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
